Early photobook by the Italian photographer Lele Saveri, bringing together photographs made in Sicily, Rome, Staten Island, and New Jersey. Drawing upon local folklore, religious ritual, popular superstition, and vernacular tradition, the work constructs a dark and highly personal visual narrative in which contemporary documentary photography intersects with myth, belief, and collective memory. Rather than functioning as a conventional documentary project, the book explores recurring themes of fear, ritual, devotion, masking, and transformation. Processions, effigies, devotional objects, anonymous figures, and nocturnal scenes are sequenced to create an atmosphere of ambiguity and unease, reflecting the title’s invocation of the incubi and succubi of medieval folklore. A very good copy in printed boards. Published in a limited edition of 500 copies.
