DescriptionA landscape painting in oil by the artist Lundy Siegriest (1925-1985). A low mountain range in shades of lavender and yellow. Unsigned; inscriptions and numbered 36 verso. Bio: Born in Oakland, California, he grew up in a family of artists; his father, Louis, was also a painter, as was his stepmother, Edna Stoddart. After studying at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, his artistic career evolved to encompass a range of styles, from pure abstraction to plein-air landscapes. In the 1970s, he joined a group of Bay Area artists who sought to revive traditional painting styles, collectively known as the Society of Six. Exhibition History: Artist’s works have been exhibited in the Arts of San Francisco Show at the San Francisco Museum of Art, the 1959 Annual Exhibit of Contemporary American Paintings, Whitney Museum of Art.
