DescriptionPair of Large Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Scholar’s Trays – Qianlong Mark, 18 1/4” Square.A finely carved pair of large Chinese cinnabar lacquer trays, each deeply worked with a central landscape scene depicting scholars in a mountainous garden setting framed by dense peony and foliate borders. The carving displays layered relief typical of carved lacquer wares inspired by Qing dynasty prototypes.The undersides bear four-character marks reading “Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi” (Made during the Qianlong period of the Great Qing).
