DescriptionJapanese antique lacquer inro with five reserve scenes of landscapes and implements most likely representing the Seven Lucky Gods. The inro has rounded edges and is almost oval in form. It has five sections (four compartments) and is lacquered entirely in very fine gold nashiji. There are 3 scenes on one side and 2 on the other in raised maki-e lacquer. The implements are displayed as if accidentally left behind. A biwa plectrum, a fan, various hats, an ancient turtle, are all symbols of the Lucky Gods.
