Here are our introductory recommendations for you: 2020 Backyard Vineyard Social Pinot Gris, British Columbia, Canada The Backyard Vineyards Social Pinot Gris initially beguiles with an intense aroma of honeydew melon, yellow apple, pear and ginger. This is followed by exotic aromas such as papaya, guava, and nectarine, underpinned by subtle mineral notes. On the palate, it displays a smooth, juicy texture, with fresh, well-integrated acidity. A complex white wine from British Columbia, very elegant and approachable, with a long, slightly flinty finish. 2021 Queenstone Mile Vineyard Chardonnay, Queenstone Mile Vineyard, Niagara, Canada The Queenston Mile Vineyard Chardonnay has an inviting aroma of ripe apples and juicy pears, underlaid with creamy vanilla, caramel and roasted hazelnuts. On the palate, it impresses with a great deal of smoothness and a wonderful combination of fruitiness and elegance. Lots of ripe peach, coated with fine roasted notes and spices. The acidity of this light-footed wine is delicate and well integrated. A profound, multi-layered Chardonnay with a long finish. Ready to drink now and with good development potential. 2021 Creekside Sauvignon Blanc, Creekside Estate Winery, Niagara, Canada The Creekside Sauvignon Blanc seduces with a delicately fruity aroma of pears, gooseberries and citrus notes. These delicate aromas are accompanied by notes of pea pods and fennel. On the palate, this Canadian white wine is invigoratingly fresh and juicy, with a delicate acidity and good balance. The fruit continues pleasantly in the mouth, with crisp apple, zesty lime and mouth-watering grapefruit, accompanied by herbal notes. An elegant, light-footed Sauvignon Blanc from Niagara, with a beguiling finish. 2017 Lakeview Cabernet Franc Icewine, Lakeview Cellars, Niagara, Canada The Lakeview Cabernet Franc Icewine has rich aromas of strawberry, cranberry and cherry. On the palate, there are deeper, more complex peppery flavours that balance the sweetness beautifully. It also has a fine, fresh acidity and a long finish. The wine should ideally be served slightly chilled, at around 12 degrees Celsius. 2017 East Dell Black Cab, East Dell Estates, Niagara, Canada The EastDell Black Cab shows fruity aromas of sweet cherry, cassis, tart fresh cranberry, underlined by a fine vanilla note. On the palate, you taste dark plum, blackberry, currant and a hint of chocolate. The wine is fresh and soft, with a medium body and fine tannins as well as a refreshing acidity and has a pleasant finish. This makes it the perfect, unobtrusive accompaniment to a meal. 2017 Pillitteri Cabernet Merlot, Pillitteri Estate Wines, Niagara, Canada Pillitteri’s Cabernet Merlot beguiles with fine aromas of black cherries, raspberry jam and plums, accompanied by notes of liquorice, vanilla and black pepper. On the palate, this Canadian wine is full-bodied and dense, with supple tannins and a present, well-supporting acidity.
