De La Rue Dainty.

Description The De La Rue Dainty was introduced in 1937, this is an early model, perhaps up to 1940. The pen is very attractively finished in marbled Green with a Gold filled ‘teardrop’ clip bearing the De La Rue Logo and a thin cap band. A lever filler, the pen has been fully cleaned, serviced and fitted with a new ink sac. The 14 Ct. Gold De La rue nib writes with a medium line with a good amount of flex, someone with a decent hand would produce impressive results. The Dainty was probably intended to compete with the Conway Stewart Dinkie. Although it feels a much more substantial pen than the Dinkie it didn’t sell as well, probably because it was more expensive. As a result these pens are quite hard to find and one in this condition turns up very infrequently.
